Who We Are
The Umma University Red Cross Chapter (UURC) is a student-led humanitarian chapter based at Umma University in Kajiado County. It operates under the Kenya Red Cross Society through the Kajiado County Branch, and is part of a wider global humanitarian network guided by the principles of humanity, neutrality, and voluntary service.
The chapter brings together students who share a common commitment to humanitarian values and community responsibility. It provides a structured environment where members grow personally and collectively while upholding the mission and standards of the Kenya Red Cross Society.
As a recognized university chapter, UURC represents the presence of the Red Cross within Umma University, serving as a link between students and the broader humanitarian movement. It stands as a symbol of unity, compassion, and service among the student community.

What We Do
The Umma University Red Cross Chapter (UURC) engages in structured humanitarian and community service activities aimed at promoting sustainability, safety, and health within the university and beyond. Our work is organized into three key areas
01.
Environmental conservation
UURC is actively involved in environmental protection and sustainability initiatives within Umma University and beyond. Our activities include regular environmental cleanups and tree planting campaigns aimed at promoting a greener and healthier environment.
Within the university, we organize internal cleanup exercises to maintain a clean and safe campus environment. We also collaborate with external institutions and partners in environmental conservation efforts. Notably, we have participated in tree planting activities with organizations such as the Catholic University and the Dedan Kimathi Foundation, strengthening inter-institutional cooperation in environmental sustainability.
02.
First Aid and emergency response.
The chapter is actively involved in first aid training, competitions, and emergency response services. Members participate in both internal and regional Red Cross competitions, where the chapter has previously advanced to national-level competitions, including participation at the Kenya Red Cross headquarters in Boma.
In addition to competitions, our trained first aid team provides emergency support during university sporting events and other campus activities, ensuring immediate response in case of injuries or emergencies.
03.
Blood Donation and health outreach
UURC organizes annual blood donation drives within the university, encouraging students to voluntarily donate blood in support of national healthcare needs. These initiatives aim to save lives and promote a culture of voluntary service and health awareness among students.
